Ezequeil Mendoza’s Shelfie
My husband and I have dragged these books from London to Melbourne. We both love stately homes, jewellry, and fashion — amongst other things.
The standouts for me are my collection of Alexander McQueen books. I have been to all the major exhibitions here, in London and New York City. As a gay, Goth kid in the Nineties, his aesthetic always spoke to me, I remember seeing his collections in W magazine — David Lachapelle’s pictorials using his clothes were just amazing. Also seeing someone so openly out at the time was inspiring.

The Spencers on Spas
Another particularly special book is a personalised copy of a book by the late John Spencer, 8th Earl of Spencer. My husband is Australian, but spent about 30 years in London in very fancy pants circles. He was friendly with Isabella Blow who discovered McQueen. I think this book launch was at Spencer house in London, but possibly the family seat of Althorp.
Ezequiel Mendoza grew up in LA and moved to New York City to work in fashion. Met his husband, moved to London, and now resides in Australia.
